Ravie...the above pic of her was she first joined the channel. You know, I'll never forget ravie I don't think...the way she came into the channel in the beginning, was kinda quiet, listened to and got to know our kinda "small gang" at that time, how she got along with everyone...Geeesh...you couldn't help but like the "once upon a time school teacher". **giggles** Then the next morning I was checking my email and I got the sweetest email from "ravie". Twas just a very very short note telling me how much she enjoyed visiting the channel and had been very impressed by everyone and everything, all that we seemed to stand for. Of course she returned to the channel...again...and again...and again.
Now, almost 2 years later and lotsa water under the bridge, people in and out of the channel, that sorta thing, ...ravie has to be one of the best friends I have made during that time. She originates from Pennsylvania. Single at the moment, ravie, a Professional Photographer, spends hours and hours "on the road", going from job to job. And, yes, it was on one of her "jobs", that we got to finally meet! After finishing up a "shoot" in a large Baptist Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina, ravie trucked on down to my place afterwards. When we met, it was honestly like we had known each other always...you know, kinda like the long lost sister thing. It's not very often you'll find "me" sharing my kitchen with anyone, but, I just had to find out if ravie was "for real" or not. I mean someone's cooking that could actually stand up to mine?? **giggles** So the war in the kitchen was on the first night she got here. And I guess if I had to hand over my apron to anyone (which I DON'T intend on doing of course), I think ravie would be next in line. She IS a wonderful cook! (if she doesnt know jack squat about chicken 'n pastry and all my battered and fried foods!! let her tell you she doesnt "like 'em" **giggles**) But she can do a mean sautee to yellow squash, zuchinni and onions!!
Yes, ravie and I got along great from the first afternoon we met and I hope to be seeing her again from time to time, as she's not but several hours away from me. Just last week (July '98) she visited with some of her friends in the North Carolina mountains, another 4 hours NorthWest of me. She thoroughly enjoyed the annual Celtic Festival on Grandfather Mountain. Below is a picture of ravie and her friend Amanda, during the annual Highland Game and Bagpipe Festival....
