The Apple of My Daddy's Eye...

On February 8, 1954 my daddy had to have been one of the happiest men in the town of Erwin, at Good Hope Hospital to be exact, back then referred to as Duke Township. Why you ask? Simple, I was born! **giggles** And not that there weren't already enough kids in the family; I was born blessed to be spoiled by eight (yes 8) older brothers and one older sister. I was too young to realize it at the time, but I was already an aunt many times over.

Sorry there aren't but a couple of pictures to show when I was a baby but guess back in those days my daddy had it kinda tight, with the big family and all. Come to think of it, I'm 44 years old and I don't recall ever seeing the first studio portrait of any of my older brothers or my sister when they were babies, not even when they weren't any longer babies! I do have one picture I'll try to find and put up a little later that was taken by professional photographer when I was maybe 4 years old. Believe me, the color portraits taken 40 years ago just aren't anything in comparison to the digital photos we upload to our computers today. (and yes, I do have the software on my computer to restore the old pic, if and when I ever get the chance)

Below you'll see a happy, "chubby faced" Stormii at probably a year and a half sitting on the hood of her big sister's (well, Leonard, my brother-in-law of course "claimed" it to be his) '53 Chevrolet truck. This is the youngest pic of me I could find. Moma was always telling me stories about how daddy spoiled me with my favorite baby foods, (if there was a such a thing as a favorite babyfood) icecream, anything I wanted and that kept me from crying. This picture definately shows I didn't go "undernourished."

I was probably three in the pic standing beside our "Goldfish Pond"....and if you're wondering why I'm standing on a newspaper, the best explaination I can give is that there were lots and lots of sandpurs in the yard. Seems like I can still remember screaming bloody murder after stepping on a few with my barefeet.

And yes, I got a really young start on wheels and just never gave them up! **giggles**

 This is for you Daddy...
